I hesitated buying this toaster after reading the other review of it, but since I liked the style better than any other toaster in its price range, decided to give it a try hoping their toaster was a fluke. And it seems to have been. I really like this toaster. After following the directions to burn off the smell and dust by running it once on high, I ran a few pieces of bread through it for a test. The first one came out much too dark on the medium setting, but after that each slice was toasted perfectly.
I like the way it holds the bread in the center of the slot. It's of adequate size for larger pieces and/or thicker pieces. And I like the other features such as for frozen bread or for keeping it warm. It also has a slide out crumb tray. If I were to fault it at all, it would be for the short power cord. Don't have a ruler with me but it appears to be about two feet long.It works for me, but might not for you if your outlet is very far from the toaster. |
Poor quality

| I purchased this toaster a couple of days ago and plan to return it. Using the bagel setting on 2 1/2, I ended up with a rock hard, partly burnt bagel. Tried using the regular toast setting and ended up with toast that was almost burnt on the bottom half of both slices while normally toasted on the top. Would recommend not purchasing this toaster. |
Nice Style, very poor quality

| Went through 2 of these toasters within 8 months. They look good but seem to be poorly designed with respect to the mechanics of handling the bread and triggering the toast. Will not buy Oster toasters ever again. |
Looks pretty, but that's it!

I bought this toaster about 5 to 6 months ago. It looked good and went well with my kitchen, I even liked the Oster brand as it "used" to be a fairly good brand. But this toaster is not made very well nor did it ever do that good of a job toasting. Never have I gotten an evenly toasted piece of bread, usually one side is done more than the other. I peered inside when making toast a few times and noticed that while one side (the little wires) will turn red almost immediately the other side doesn't turn red until the toast is almost ready to pop up. Same thing with both slots.
The other thing that started happening within a few weeks of purchase is that the toast carriers (the wire racks that look like teeth inside where the bread sits) were not sliding down evenly when I pushed down the lever. They were sticking and catching all the time on the track and quickly getting bent all out of whack. One side of the track wasn't doing the same as the other side of the track so the bread was sititng at an angle. They are now so bad that they will not carry the bread down to be toasted even though I messed around with them several times to try and fix them. This toaster looks nice and while it might have worked OK a few times in the beginning it quickly went downhill fast. The guts just don't seem to be made very well and I intend to call Oster and see what they will do about it as I am inside a year of purchase. |
Junk, do not buy, broke after 1 and 1 half years!

Even after about one year, the toast would occasionally not stay down, but now, after about 18 months, the toaster will not work. Called Sunbeam, who owns Oster, and they said sorry, nothing we can do, you are outside the warranty.
So, for these reasons, I cannot recommend this product, or other products by Oster. |
